THAALU BERNARDO RUMAO
Born in1960 in Angola, Bernardo is the son of a subsistence farmer and hunter-gatherers. He went to school
in Rivungo for 6 years and then moved as a teenager to Savapindu where he received a further 6 years of formal schooling. As a young man he worked at a timber mill before joining the Portuguese military. When the new government came into power in Angola, he was part of a team of recruits who moved to Omega in Namibia. He left the South African 1984
and settled in Tsumkwe with his family.
