NICola BAILEY

Nicci Bailey has worked with a group of artists under the tutelage of Rose Shakinovsky and Claire Gavronsky for a number
of years and exhibited on various group shows.

Artist statement : The starting points for my work are my home, my role as a woman in society and the rituals and duties
of being a wife and mother. Art provides me with an opportunity to explore my position in the wider environment and reflect
on the role of women in Art History (as explored in my work for the Domestic Departures (2012) exhibition).
The processes of art making are important for me as they offer the opportunity for transformation as well
as a sense of understanding or acceptance of the mechanisms of the world and my own biography within it.
I work in a variety of mediums including, collage, clay, painting and installation, to transform
what we expect from art and urge the spectator to really look and hopefully discover that
things are not always what they seem.
