After completing a Diploma in Graphic Design Katja worked for many years in the publishing industry. In 2015, to fulfill her desire to engage in hands-on art-making, she embarked on a Bachelors Degree in Visual Arts through UNISA.
With a fascination for what goes on below the surface of the quotidian, Katja delves into the world that exists in the dream time, on the periphery of our reason and vision. Unpremeditated forms of the creatures that inhabit this dark and silent realm emerge. She explores how the eradication of wild spaces and the displacement of wild animals through environmental degradation impacts our sanity, our mental well-being, and on our relationship to our instinctual natures.
