JOSEF LAZARUS
Josef is in his twenties and was born in Ekoka to Kanemo Lukas and Matias Lasarus. He has one brother and two sisters.
He is married to Tate Simon's (Simon Hamupolo) daughter and their only child died at birth. Josef grew up in the Kavango region, which is where he learnt woodcarving from Ismael Ndumba. He sold his carvings at Okahandja where he learnt some English. He attended school till Std 2 (Grade 4). Josef earns money by making bricks, building houses and general
handy-man jobs. He is very interested in the art projects but realises he needs to work hard at it before he is good,
like with his woodcarving, and shows great promise.
